Who can have sickle cell?
- It is estimated that SCD affects 90000 to 100000 people in the United States and about 400000 Cameroonian.
- The disease occurs in about 1 in every 365 blacks or African American births and in about 1 in every 36000 Hispanic American births.
- SCD affects millions of people throughout the world and is particularly common among those whose ancestors come from Sub-Sahara Africa.
- About 1 in every 12 African-American has sickle trait and about 1 in every 100 Hispanics has sickle cell trait.
The Activities of the association in Cameroon
- On 21 November 2015 Children Toll For Africa Corporation visited children at the sickle cell center in Douala Cameroon to donates toys, bicycles , clothes , shoes and many other children gifts
- In December 2016 children Toll for Africa supplied the Douala sickle cell hospital with medical supply donated by OU Medical Center
- A donation of food supplies was given at an orphanage for children sick from sickle cell diseases inDouala Cameroon. Donations such as rice, candy, cooking oil soap, was donated .
- On August 2017 a 40ft High cube container was filled with medical supply donated by OU Medical supply center was shipped to Cameroon to be donated at sickle cell center in Douala Cameroon. Visit our website at www.ctfaco.org
